Confessing Jesus as the Son of God demonstrates that we believe that Jesus is not only the Son of God but is God. We believe that Jesus died and rose again. We believe that everything Jesus claimed and proclaimed is truth. That He is the only way to the Father.
The reason God abides in the one who confesses that Jesus is the Son of God is because they have become a child of God. Their sins have been forgiven and they have been brought into right relationship with God. They are no longer separated from God, but they have been adopted into God’s family and can now approach the throne of grace with confidence.
During His earthly ministry Jesus spoke about He and the Father being one (John 10:30-38). In everything Jesus did He accomplished the works and will of the Father. He fully became man and emptied Himself of His heavenly glory because this was the will of the Father. It was the will of the Father for Jesus to suffer and die and His wrath be poured out upon Jesus. In Christ when we make the confession of faith, we become a child of God and we are called to remain and abide in Him every day. In Christ we have a living relationship in which we are continually transformed by the work of the Holy Spirit within us.
