Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem
Psalm 122:6 New English Translation
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.May those who love her prosper.
We may wonder is it important how we view Israel. Is it really important for us to pray for Israel and the peace of Jerusalem? The answer is yes. There is a promise in God’s word that those who love them will be prospered. The word prosper here means have rest, be at ease. When we pray for the peace of Jerusalem there is a true blessing that is released into our lives. The Lord will bring rest. We will find true prosperity, which is not simply based on great wealth, but is the abundant life Jesus speaks of.
What Israel and Jerusalem face daily is spiritual assault. The enemy would love nothing more to destroy the plans and purposes for the Jewish people. Every purpose and plan that God has declared concerning the nation of Israel will be fulfilled by the hand of Almighty God. His word does not return void. The church has not replaced Israel. God will not only fulfill every plan and purpose concerning the church, but God will also fulfill all things planned and purposed concerning Israel.
If we will spend time each day praying for the peace of Jerusalem, we will find not only great blessing released into our lives, but we will also find our prayer life will deepen and increase. I remember the first time the Lord began to speak to me personally about praying for Jerusalem and from that day, I have seen a marked difference in what God has done in my life and also how it has impacted my prayer life.
We may wonder if our prayers accomplish anything. The answer is that they do, and God works through them. Though to us our prayer time may seem insignificant, to the Living God it isn’t. Every time we come before Him in prayer, we have an audience with Him. He desires to reveal the very deep things of His heart and often that is accomplished in prayer. May we pray daily for the peace of Jerusalem, and may the Lord prosper us in all that we put our hand to.
Prayer
Father today we pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Father we pray for the Jewish people. We pray for your peace, protection, and blessing to be upon them. We pray that their eyes would be open to Jesus as their Messiah. We pray that you would work in hearts and lives bringing them to a saving knowledge of who Jesus is. Father may your hand move through out the nation of Israel. May you protect and deliver them from the hand of the enemy. May have purpose and plan that your established before the foundations of the world be released and established in Israel in your time and according to your will. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
