Grace Has Been Given As Christ Apportioned It
Ephesians 4:7 New International Version
7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
It is Almighty God who gives us grace. His favor upon our lives that cannot be earned and is without merit. God in His mercy chooses, calls, pursues, and designs our lives with purpose and destiny. But it is God who gives. He gives grace in measure for what we need. Often there are things that may overwhelm us and even cripple us. But God will sustain. His strength will be made perfect in our weakness.
The word apportioned here means measure or rule. So, the measure that we need will be provided by Jesus Christ. Jesus has not only died in our place and because of our sin, but He lives forever. He sits at the right hand of the Father. The authority we have is directly from Him. We live from a place of victory, because He has overcome. His grace to us is free but has come at a costly price.
This verse begins by saying to each one of us. That means that every person who calls upon the name of Jesus is afforded the measure of God’s grace that is needed. Not dependent on skin color, church background, economic status, or what we have done. It is dependent solely if we call Jesus our Lord and Savior. If we have surrendered our life to Him. If we have come to believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord. His grace is bestowed lavishly upon us because of who He is and what He has done.
Prayer
Father thank you for your grace. Thank you that all I have in Jesus Christ is because of what He has done. Thank you that I have nothing to boast about. Thank you for saving me, for sustaining me, for changing and transforming me. Remove anything that would hinder your work and may every desire, dream, and thought be surrendered to you. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
Reflection:
1. What is God currently teaching you in this season of your journey with Him?
2. What have you recently faced that gave you a greater revelation and understanding of His grace?
3. Are there any areas in your life where you are struggling where you need a greater measure of His grace?
